Unit 2 Assessment Feedback Tutorial

In this unit I need to reorganise the content of project proposal to be clearer about my plans and approaches. I am lacking of building my way of developing ideas using sketches, model making, rendering, and other ways to visualise, materialise and assess the design ideas.

Although I was unable to use the school equipment due to the COVID-19. The concept I came up with was not expressed in more accurate sketches or models.

In next unit I try to follow up survey. Firstly is to finish interview to collect unique stories that can condense into items. Secondly, I make a conclusion a bout in what way can people feel accompany by analyzing all the routine matters and the emotional behind it.

By the way I raise up two experiment about my project.

Trick Box

Created in March of 2018, this box has a Polar Star design on the surface of the lid which may give hints on how to open it. This opening mechanism is the same as the Large Cassiopeia box. It is crafted in Walnut and Magnolia.

It is a box that can only be opened by solving a puzzle. Some require only a simple move and others a series of discoveries.

When combined with a death memorial, trick Box brings not only a ritual sense of opening and storing memory fragments, but also a therapy to bring mental health.

Night Light

A night light is a small, low-power electric light kept on at night for comfort and safety. They provide enough light to see the outlines of objects in a room, but are dim enough to not disturb your sleep. Night lights are often used to comfort people who are afraid of the dark. They can also be used in hallways and bathrooms to allow people to navigate the house at night.

Light helps to regulate people's emotions. In the quiet of the night, gentle night light can soothe people's lonely and easily sentimental emotions. Therefore, combined with the way of commemorating the dead, it is more like a beacon to guide people not to lose and wander in low mood.
